Biography

Tim Weber earned his BS (1986), MS (1987), and PhD (1991) in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University. After beginning his career in the helicopter division at Boeing in Philadelphia, he joined Hewlett‑Packard in 1993, where he has held key technical and leadership roles in printing and microfabrication technologies. Weber currently serves as director of HP’s Advanced Materials and Processes Lab within the Technology Development Operation. His organization focuses on printing technologies, MEMS development, applied molecular systems (nanotechnology), and printed electronics. Under his leadership, the team developed the MEMS‑based advanced printhead technology introduced across HP’s inkjet product lineup in 2005. His areas of specialization include technology and product engineering management, quality and process control, thermal inkjet architecture, and multidisciplinary mathematical modeling.
